I love a winter recharge. Playoffs are over and Super Bowl is next Sunday, so this weekend was an easy sell for Mr. Sodium. We took a short drive to Coeur d’Alene and The Roosevelt Inn, an old converted schoolhouse. Upon booking, I wrote in the “special requests” field (which I assumed no one actually reads) about low salt options at breakfast. To my surprise, they not only read my request, but accommodated it beautifully and without me asking about it. And they even made Mr. Sodium a fully seasoned breakfast. I travel a lot, and attention to such details are rare.
Last night, we had a late sushi dinner at Syringa Japanese Cafe. Bright and clean tasting with yellowtail, radish sprouts and shiso leaves, my favorite was their Syringa Roll. Sushi is easy low sodium eats, with all ingredients listed and sauces/seasoning added at the table.
Cozy room with a fire, crisp walks on the floating boardwalk, good restaurants, wine and comfy company — not necessarily in that order — are some of my favorite things. This getaway is going swimmingly.
