Sh*t I bought on Facebook: LikeAGlove

I have a new series to share with you: Sh*t I bought on Facebook! Turns out, Facebook does extremely well serving up ads that I’ll click. Some have turned out to be good buys, some not so much. In this series I’ll share how each of my purchases fares — the good, the bad and those that deserve a frowny face bitmoji.

Yes, this is a cooking blog. But I shop online. A lot. We all have a choice how to spend our busy lives, and I’d rather not spend mine in shopping malls, dressing rooms and picking up everyday necessities when they can arrive on my doorstep. Usually, if a product isn’t on Amazon Prime, it doesn’t exist to me. Except when it’s a Facebook ad.

LikeAGlove and what they call “the future of online shopping”

What is it? A pair of stretchy tights with magical sensors that measure your waist and hips in two places, high and low. With these measurements, the app creates a catalog of jeans that will fit you well. There appears to be extra sensors for thigh width, leg length, crotch rise, booty shape, etc. and I hope it means they will continue to expand how they measure your lower half.

Press the orange button at your belly, and the tights sync to phone or tablet via Bluetooth, sending your measurements to the LikeAGlove app.

What I see in the app:

As you can see, ahem…I’m not the least bit tiny. There was plenty of stretch in the tights and plenty more room to expand them if needed. Their video shows a very trim gal trying on the tights, so I’m sure you skinny beaches can use them just as well:) These measurements also serve to track your progress in the app, if your measurements go up or down. This seems like a much better way to track health over traditional scales.

In their catalog, they make jeans recommendations based on my measurements, showing me whether each pair will fit well or areas the jeans will be a little too large. For a curvy girl who struggles with that incessant gap in the waist, this feature is a very big deal.

Based on their recommendations, I ordered a pair of Lucky jeans. And they really do fit me well. I have loads of jeans that require a belt, hem or waist alteration to fit me properly — and the LikeAGlove app found me the perfect pair of jeans right off the (virtual) rack in less than five minutes.

Cost: $75 with shipping for the magical tights, plus the cost of the jeans you order.

I’m sure I could go to a brick-and-mortar shop and a salesperson could help me find the perfect fit…after an hour in the dressing room. For me, LikeAGlove is worth every penny. I’ll continue to track my measurements, shop jeans with them — and I hope they expand to trousers and other pants! In fact, I emailed LikeAGlove to ask about their plans for other types of pants, and I heard back from them in less than three hours. That’s way better than my track record!
